TEHRAN, Oct. 24 (MNA) – Chicago International Film Festival announced its winners on Friday night whereas Nahid achieved an award as well.

In its wrap up ceremony, the international film festival gave its Founder's Award which is given "to that one film ... that captures the spirit of the [fest] for its unique and innovative approach to the art of the moving image," to acclaimed document maker Michael Moore.

Meanwhile the Roger Ebert Award, presented "to an emerging filmmaker whose film presents a fresh and uncompromising vision" went to Iran's Ida Panahandeh for Nahid.

A production of Iran’s Documentary and Experimental Film Center (DEFC), Nahid is a chronicle of an Iranian woman’s efforts to maintain both her freedom and the custody of her child, and stars A Separation actress Sareh Bayat.

Panahandeh’s debut had also won the Bright Future Award in the Un Certain Regard of 66th Cannes International Film Festival.
