Screening August 7th, 4:00pm Noor Film Festival Sarah Khoshjamal did what no other woman ever managed to do before. The 20-year-old girl is the first female professional athlete from Iran ever who has qualified for the Olympic Games. Her sport discipline is Taekwondo. The qualification is a big personal success for her and her coach Maryam Azarmehr. Nevertheless, it is an even bigger step for all Muslim women in Islamic Republic of Iran who fight for equal rights and more freedom in a male-dominated country.

KICK IN IRAN accompanies the young woman's arduous journey to Olympia 2008 in Beijing, her struggle for recognition and the wish for a change in a society based on strict religious laws.

The 4th annual Noor Film Festival will be held at UCL “James Bridges Theater” from August 5th till August 7th 2011. The Noor Iranian Film Festival (NFF), founded in 2005, is an international event, with the goal of educating and informing the non-Iranian community about the culture and heritage of Iranians around the world through the medium of cinema.
